A New Article featuring Mr. Barbel
Just to get you in the mood if you’re coming along to the Barbel Society Hertfordshire meeting, I’m uploading an article which I wrote for the Barbel Fisher magazine five years ago.
It takes the form of a bankside interview with my great pal Fred Crouch. It’s a long feature, nearly eight thousand words , so I’m going to post it in three stages so that your eyes don’t suffer!
Here’s another jukebox with some of Fred’s favourites, they will certainly take you back a bit!
Fred is a big fan of Buddy Holly, Elvis and Jim Reeves, bit of a Teddy Boy in his heyday!
Ever since I put the photo of Fred on the home page of the website I’ve been intrigued by how much of a resemblance there is to that great Brummie rocker, Noddy Holder. I’m sure you’ll agree, gives me another idea for a separated at birth feature but that will lead me into all kinds of trouble, Ray Walton aka Ricky Gervais or Paul Merton on a bad day! The list is endless, what do you reckon?
If you go to the Articles section the first part of A Day on The Kennet with Mr. Barbel is there right now, or you can click here and still listen to the music as you read!

SUNDAY FEBRUARY 14TH UPDATE
Had a change of mind!
The rest of the article has now been uploaded, as I said it is rather long but for those of you who have never seen it I’m sure you will enjoy this insight into one of barbel fishings great characters.
